The Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and NASA’s neighboring Kennedy Space Center have hosted an escalating number of launches in recent years. The Cape’s annual record reached 31 annual orbital launches in 2021, then jumped to 57 launches in 2022 and 72 in 2023. With over 100 launches scheduled for 2024, we continue to see huge growth in the industry from NASA and private companies SpaceX, United Launch Alliance, Blue Origin, Relativity Space and others. As locals we’re still excited every time another rocket is sent into space, but the massive Heavy (3 booster rockets), NASA Artemis that will send astronauts back to the moon and possibly beyond, and every night launch are absolutely mind blowing. In recent years, we have seen a huge increase in “Space Tourism”, with thousands of visitors coming to the area for each launch. Check out the latest launch schedules through the links below.

Kennedy Space Center-Launches & Events

There are a lot of amazing places to watch the launches but on a clear day you can see them all the way in Orlando and even further for night launches. In Brevard County, some of the best places to watch the launches are from the beaches in Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach, Port Canaveral, Jetty Park, The Cocoa Beach Pier, or along the Indian River off US-1 in Port St John and Titusville. You can also find boat and kayak tours to watch launches from the water. For miles around the Space Center you can hear the rumble of the launches, but if you want until you hear it, you may have missed it. With SpaceX launches when the boosters come back to land on the Space Center, you’ll get a massive sonic boom…so Amazing. It will shake the ground if you’re close enough!
